Alien Frontier
Alien Frontier is an open world rogue-lite, third-person shooter where players search and mine resources while trying to stay alive in dangerous, ever-changing alien environments!
Working with After Hours Games, I identify usability barriers for players, evaluate players' perceptions of the game through an iterative testing process, and provide gray box wireframe solutions to design challenges.

The game is still in development, and this work is ongoing!
Methods
Surveys
Constructed surveys assessing players' experiences with the game prior to launch (e.g., during demo sessions). Players were given a mixture of qualitative and quantitative items assessing their overall impressions of the demo and gauged barriers to playability (e.g., latency issues).
Low-fi Wireframes
Using my knowledge of design and useability principles, I produced low-fi wireframes of key game screens including the Main Menu and Inventory during the early stages of the game's development, focusing on maximizing players' abilities to locate game-critical features.
Usability & Accessibility Reviews
Provided feedback and iterative reviews of game screens, identifying potential friction points based on the principles of learning, attention, and memory. Recommendations for changes were provided as part of an iterative review process.
